Our House is a Very Very Very Fine House

Well, here I am in Vancouver. Paul and I got here safely yesterday and it has been a crazy whirlwind of 27 hours so far. This post may get long, so if at any point you get bored, feel free to stop reading :) Paul went back to Pastor Jim's for the night, so I'm all alone and pretty tired about now, but let me fill you all in on our apartment and my first day of work.

The apartment seems just fine. The complex seems to have mostly young families. There is a playground and a pool and the kids seem to like to ride their bikes around the parking lot a bit. The apartment seems quite freshly painted and the carpet is old but in pretty good condition. We have a dishwasher and a washer and dryer. We have a dining room table with 4 chairs, which today I discovered has 2 leaves in it and I just took them out which makes it much more appropriately sized for the apartment :o) There's an old but comfy couch which is a sleeper, but I don't know how bad that is - I haven't opened it yet :o) We have a couple of bookshelves, a couple end tables, lamps, a coffee table, etc. There's an old TV and we have a dvd player. We put up Paul's speakers and installed the digital converter box so its not so bad.

The kitchen is pretty well equipped - nothing fancy - but plenty of pots and pans :o) One weird thing is that we have only 3 drawers in the whole kitchen and both are about 5 inches wide. I'm hoping to buy a big utensils canister when we go to target so that we have something to put more of those in so we can put our silverware in one of the drawers. The range is electric, but I think we'll live :o)

The bathroom is fine - nothing interesting to report there at all :o) The bedroom is okay, we have one closet but its pretty big and 2 ancient dressers. They are both older than me, I think, but they work fine. The bed is a little old-feeling but its okay. I've slept on worse :o) The bedding is hideous! We picked out some bedding that we cant get either place we registered so we're planning to treat ourselves to the new comforter and pillowcases to spruce up the room a bit. The bedding we have is truly the ugliest I've seen in quite some time.

We have a back deck that opens onto a grassy area. We face the edge of the property and there are some trees behind us, but we can hear the highway pretty loudly. We're thinking of getting some cheap but comfy deck chairs. We have a grill!!! We're very excited about that, especially since we don't have AC so this summer we'll try not to cook inside too much :o) Its been pretty muggy so far but its very cool and nice at night.
